Reading and following blogs may be old hat to some, but if you're new to reading blogs, some of the terminology, like "follow in a reader" or "subscribe", may be foreign. When you see a blog you like, whether it's this blog or another blog, there are things that you can do to make sure you don't miss any new posts or updates! Here they are:
1. Click on "Subscribe to Cleaning Up the Clutter by E-mail". On this blog, the subscribe link is in the top, left column. When you click on subscribe, you'll get a pop-up window from Feedburner. Once you enter your e-mail address, you'll get an e-mail confirming the subscription. Click on the link in the e-mail and that's it! Your subscribed to the blog! This will give you an e-mail in your inbox whenever the blog is updated. My blog e-mail subscription is free, as are subscriptions to most other blogs.
2. Click on "Follow in a Reader". On Cleaning up the Clutter, the "follow in a reader" link is under the BlogHer ads in the left-hand column. It's the link with that square, orange symbol, which has become a well-recognized symbol for an RSS feed. A reader is a way to get blog "feeds" or updates from all of your favorite blogs. If you have Internet Explorer, you'll see a star with the word "favorites" next to it in your menu bar. Click on this to reveal the pull-down menu with all your favorite links. You'll notice that this menu has three, tabbed headings. The first is "favorites", the second is "feeds" and the third is "history". If you click on the "feeds" tab, you'll see a list of all the RSS feeds that you are following in a reader.
3. Click on "Follow" to follow the blog in Blogger. On this blog, the "follow" option is down a bit in the right-hand column. You can follow the blog in Blogger if you have a Blogger account, which is free. When you have a Blogger account, you will get an updated list of all the blogs that you follow when you are in your Blogger dashboard.
So, now that you know how to subscribe and/or follow a blog, I'm going to ask outright to please, follow or subscribe to Cleaning up the Clutter (I'm applying a tip I read at Copyblogger - a great site to read if you're a blogger). I am working on adding content weekly that's all about cleaning. Some of it's motivating, some food for thought and some that points toward cleaning resources. Read, follow, subscribe and share! Thank you!
