Decluttering Advent Day 10: Oh Christmas Tree

December 10
Take Care of the Christmas Tree

If the Christmas Tree has been up for a week or two, it’s probably starting to look a little disheveled, especially if you have small children or rambunctious pets. Spend a few minutes putting it back in order. Re-hang any drooping garland and misplaced ornaments. Vacuum or sweep all the pine needles that have fallen to the floor and add any new ornaments that may have come your way in the last few weeks. To get the most mileage out of a real tree, continue to water it daily until you take it down after the holiday. I admit that we typically slack on watering our Christmas tree. This year, however, I made it my six-year-old son's job. So far so good. He's taking pretty good care of it, with some reminders. How's your Christmas tree holding up?

Here's a list of the recent Decluttering Advent posts:

December 8 & 9 - Clean the Refrigerator & Donate a Box of Books

December 7 - Create a Rainy Day Box of Toys

December 6 - Organize the Coat Closet

December 5 - All I Want for Christmas is Peace

  2. Barb,

I am so behind except I have mailed out-of-town gifts.

Our artificial tree with lights attached (so handy) is up in the attic. Now to get to that attic there is a trap door in the garage. The garage has remnants that didn't sell from the garage sale. Have a busy Saturday and Sunday, but maybe Monday we can get the tree up.

  3. I am amazed, Barb, that you are fitting decluttering in at this time of year.

Got the tree down and in the living room! Have started to compose our Christmas letter. Hope to address envelopes while I substitute teach next week if the classes are good. With just two weeks I'll be multi-tasking through the holidays!
